TriAggieland Kids TriathlonTexas A&M University is proud to host the 2nd Annual TriAggieland Kids Triathlon on Sunday, June 24, 2012.  This event is open to all child athletes from the ages of 6-15.  Proceeds from the day’s events will benefit the Children’s Museum of Brazos Valley.

The TriAggieland Kids Triathlon will take place at the Texas A&M Rec Center in College Station.  Beginning at 6am, child athletes will gather at the college’s rec center to begin preparing for the triathlon, including an orientation and safety meeting.  Participants will be grouped according to age, with 6 to 8-year-olds in the Junior Division, 9 to 11-year-olds in the Intermediate Division and 12 to 15-year-olds in the Senior Division. The first leg of the triathlon will be swimming six lengths of the pool for Seniors, four lengths for Intermediates and two lengths for Juniors.  Next is the cycling course, with Seniors required to complete four bike loops (8 miles), Intermediates completing two bike loops (4 miles) and Juniors completing one bike loop (2 miles).  The last leg of the race will be a two mile run for Seniors, one mile run for Intermediates and 500 yard run for Juniors.  Awards will be given to the top three boys and girls in each age division.

Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for comfort, non-alcoholic beverages and a snack while encouraging these young athletes.  Make sure to come early so you can park in Lot 61, accessible from Wellborn Rd and John Kimbrough.  If your athlete appears to be struggling, please resist the urge to help.  Volunteers are available throughout the entire course to provide aid when needed.  Outside help will cause them to be disqualified.

Registration is $45 per entrant.  Child athletes from Bryan/College Station and all throughout the Brazos Valley are encouraged to participate.  To register for the TriAggiland Kids Triathlon in College Station, please visit the TriAggieland website here.  If you’d like to make a donation, please visit the Children’s Museum of Brazos Valley here.
