College Station Pumpkin Decorating Contest
October 16, 2012 by Stephanie Hansson · Leave a Comment
Do you love Halloween? I know I do. One of my favorite things about this holiday is decorating a pumpkin or two. Right now, the Larry J Ringer Library in College Station is holding a pumpkin decorating contest from now through October 25th.
If you’re thinking that they’ll turn to mush before they get judged, don’t worry. The pumpkins entered in this contest are not allowed to be carved or cut in any way. So, it’s safe for all ages to join in on the fun. All pumpkins must be real, have been cleaned with a mild bleach/water solution before they were decorated (for safety and health concerns) and need to be able to fit on a 9″ deep shelf at the College Station library. There are a variety of categories for judging, so let your imagination run wild!
This contest is free to enter. Just drop off your decorated pumpkin at the children’s desk of the Larry J Ringer Library during normal business hours (9am to 9pm Monday and Wednesday, 9am to 7pm Tuesday and Thursday, 9am to 5pm Friday and Saturday and 1:30pm to 5:30pm on Sunday) before October 25th for display and judging. Pumpkins will need to be picked up from the library between October 26th and November 2nd.
Whether you’re 1 or 101, you are more than welcome to enter the College Station pumpkin decorating contest. Scary, goofy, elaborate or simple…all types of designs are encouraged. Just be creative! You can also come to the Larry J Ringer Library from now through October 25th to see how others in your community have used their creative juices in decorating their pumpkins.
